During this course the student is acquainted with theoretical background of the most widely used method for advanced calculation analyses in engineering – the finite element method. The student acquires a detailed understanding of the background of engineering analyses in engineering mechanics. By means of defining own numerical models and their results, the student learns the advantages and disadvantages of this method for analysing engineering problems. With such acquired first-hand practical experiences, the student develops the ability for engineeringly responsible modelling and critical judgement of the results of calculation analyses. The acquired knowledge is easy to transfer also to other technical areas of application.
