Fundamental goal of the subject is to highlight the role and importance of the numerical modelling required in solving of technical problems to the students and give them responsibility for responsible use of computer programs in engineering analyses. For this purpose students will obtain fundamental theoretical basis of Finite Element Method (FEM) and understanding of physical quantities used in analyses. Based on their own experience with numerical modelling students will get knowledge about advantages and restrictions of the engineering problem analysing by FEM. Students obtain fundamental knowledge about background of mechanical and heat transfer engineering analyses, based on FEM. Get an overview of different finite element (FE) types and on FE meshing techniques. Acquire knowledge about solving of simple termo-mechanical problems by on FEM based commercial computer program Abaqus. Are able to check, analyze and present the computed results.
