Digital Image Corelation (DIC) measurements for the project: Characterization of enamelled sheet metals for minimizing warpage due to the enamelling process

Measurement setup for measuring the deformations of the oven-cavity bottom during oven operation. The setup employed the Dantec Dynamics Q-400 multi-camera Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system with 4× 5 MPx digital cameras. The inset shows the camera positions in the Dantec Dynamics Istra 4D software calculated based on the calibration procedure (using a checkerboard calibration target).

Prior to the measurements, the interior of the oven was painted with a ceramic paint to create the speckle pattern required for the DIC measurement. During the oven operation (heating up), the cameras saw the movement of the speckle pattern, as shown in the following video.

After acquisition, we evaluated these images using the DIC method. The resulting displacements are visualized in the following videos for different ovens. The displacements in the videos are scaled.
