Abstract
Biodynamics is a science that studies the effect of vibrations on the human body. Since a large ammount of vibrations is transmitted into the human body via the fingers, their biodynamic response needs to be accurately measured and modeled. This can prove a difficult task due to the nonlinear finger response to vibration therefore a new approach to biodynamic finger measurements is proposed. The idea is to measure each finger phalanx separately and then combine the results. The purpose of this MSc theme is to examine whether the superposition principle is feasible in the area of finger biodynamics. The first step is to study the theory of dynamic response of structures and the biodynamic theory. A suitable measurement system then needs to be developed and parts of the finger measured seperately. Finally the results are combined and compared to the whole finger measurements.
