Abstract
This paper deals with a large-scale parametric study of geometrical influences on the stepping accuracy of a small, claw-poled, permanent-magnet stepper motor. Even though the main focus is on the claw-poles, other parameters, such as the permanent-magnet height and the stack air gap, are varied in order to obtain a complete insight into the importance of the individual details. Compactly presented results can help engineers considerably lower the times needed to find the optimum design for the developed motor.
