Before a new product goes into serial production it must undergo a series of standard tests in order to ensure no failure or malfunction will occur during the service-life. One of the tests is vibration testing, where the product is mounted on the electro-dynamical shaker and excited with the vibration profile that is reasonably more severe than the actual vibration load during the operation. Consequently, in modern engineering this brings up the need for a software tool that predicts the product’s life under a given vibration loading in the design stage, before the first prototype is built. The CimFat plug-in for CATIA performs the product life estimation in the CATIA analysis environment with the state-of-the-art methods in the area of vibration fatigue.
