Spike – INTELIGENT TOOL AND CUTTING FORCE CONTROL SYSTEM

The Spike Sensor Toolholder is an important part of intelligent tool and cutting forces control. It detects the forces, torsional loads and bending moments acting on the tool during the cutting (drilling, milling) process itself. The temperature of the measuring zone and thermal variations throughout the process are monitored by the integrated temperature sensor. The measured data is transmitted wirelessly to the computer, allowing optimization of cutting processes and live tool control through analysis in the associated software environment. This provides important information on tool wear during the cutting process itself and ultimately makes it easier to determine the right cutting tool for the job.
